ACTIVITY 1A: DO NOT THINK: ACT! (a half session) - 1 POINT OVER 10
How do fake news lead us to act irrationally? They mainly do it by looking for our emotional response. In addition, they mainly seek primary and simple emotions: fear, anger, joy, sadness, disgust, contempt and surprise, among others.
In this activity we ask you to try identifying the emotions that the news below produce in you. Some of these news are real but some of them are fake news. Can you find them? To finnish this activity, you should complete the individual form on the right sidebar. Once you have finished the activity, you can test your skills as fake news creator in the following webpage. |
ACTIVITY 1B: HOW CAN OUR EMOTIONS BE MANIPULATED? (1,5 sessions)
Emotions are, in essence, chemical reactions directed by our brain that move us to act to ensure our survival. In this activity we will learn about the role played by the different parts of our nervous and endocrine systems and about the role that some of them have on the management of our emotions (and feelings).
In this activity you will have a different task to solve depending on your role (we are using a cooperative technique called "the jigsaw"):
To finnish this activity, you should deliver your individual mind map through Google Classroom before the due date. |

ACTIVITY 1C: EMOTION ORCHESTRA (2 sessions) - 5 POINTS OVER 10
In this last activity, you should prepare a final team infographic, including what each member of the team has studied in the previous activity. The infographic must start with one of the fake news from activity 1 and you must clearly show how our neuroendocrine system processes that information and the emotions (and feelings) related to it.
Remember that it is not a mental or conceptual map but an infographic, so you must include visual elements and organize the information in an attractive and clear way. You may use any digital tool (Canva, Piktochart, Google Presentations) but it should allow making corrections and further editing because we may keep working on this infografics after this project. When you have it ready, submit it through the task created in Google Classroom by your teacher. |
